Physically sketching wireframes rather than using software is faster, more flexible, and offers less distractions in comparison. You can easily execute your creative thought process, switch from high to low level product concepts, focus on information hierarchy and structure without needing the prior skillset to use an online software. On the contrary, sketching does not offer the same efficiency that softwares provides. WIreframe software allows for more high-fidelity designs that can incorporate interactivity, media, font formatting and many other elements to increase the quality and realisticness of a wireframe. Software also allows for standardization, the ability to make copies of elements one wishes to further edit or change along with collaboration of projects.
I believe that wireframing software would be the best choice for my project because using physical tools such as whiteboarding or sketching require the work to be transcribed to another medium anyway. Software, although not the fastest or least distracting, is less time consuming and more efficient in the long run for all of the aspects that I want to be able to execute in my design. Test running interactive elements of my design, font formatting or information architecture is possible using higher level wire frames within a software, but not using any form of sketching.
