About Us

Mission

This platform has a single goal: to broadcast the beauty of design through education and community of Black individuals. The design industry would not be what it is today without the contributions and talent coming from the Black design community, yet we make up less than 5% of the population of designers known in the industry. This talented community exists, but rarely receives the recognition it deserves. But why is there a deterrent for our community to enter this industry? Why is there a lack of spaces that amplify black creatives? We believe there is no one-stop-shop for aspiring designers to both find community and foundational needed to penetrate the design industry. FTM highlights diversity, equity and inclusion by providing a safe space for black aspiring designers to learn and connect with others.
